On October 23, 2018, the
Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AAMDSIF)
announced the hiring of
Neil Horikoshi as Executive Director and CEO, replacing
Kathleen Weis, who held the positions since 2015.
Neil Horikoshi, an aplastic anemia survivor, is a former chairman of the AAMDSIF Board of Directors, a long-time board member, and a recipient of the Foundation's
Leadership in Service award.
His leadership, business, and volunteer experience is widespread, including work with the AAMDSIF, the Asian and Pacific Islander Scholarship Fund, the Asian American Justice Center, the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies, the Go for Broke National Education Center, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's Gates Millennium Scholars Program, as well as a long career at IBM.
We wish Mr. Horikoshi good luck in steering the AAMDSIF toward more success in the battle against bone marrow failure diseases.
