Long-term eltrombopag for bone marrow failure depletes iron (article)

A very interesting and useful article about the iron chelation effect of Promacta/eltrombopag. Particularly interested in this due to my mother having serious trouble tolerating Exjade but has maintained on Promacta, and has seen her ferritin levels drop.

So happy to hear this!

If I am not mistaken, it's just not the ferritin levels in the blood, but how much your cells absorb the iron? Promacta stops cells from absorbing iron.

I deeply appreciate your posting this.

Please take care.
