The Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplasia Association of Canada (AAMAC) welcomes you to the Marrowforums regional forum for Canada. We support this forum section, which complements the other forum sections by giving users a place to share uniquely Canadian information.

In this forum, you can get information about support and services in Canada:

• "Is there a local support group?"
• "What drug treatments are available in Canada?"
• "What treatments are funded in my province?"
• "Are there any centres in Canada which specialize in the diseases?"

We also hope this area will introduce newly diagnosed Canadians to our Association and the free services we offer:

• Telephone and e-mail peer-to-peer support for patients
• Educational material
• Quarterly newsletters
• Local support group meetings
• Conferences
• Grants for Medical Research and education
• Promotion of Canadian Blood Services programs and the OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network

About AAMAC

AAMAC began in 1987, when a concerned parent of a child with aplastic anemia founded the "Aplastic Anemia Family Association of Ontario." One of the first goals of this association was to advocate for a National Bone Marrow Registry in Canada.

Today the Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplasia Association of Canada is a federally incorporated and registered national charity with an ambitious goal of providing a seamless support network for every Canadian patient, family member, friend and concerned healthcare provider dealing with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (myelodyplasia) or paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).

The Association is led by a volunteer board of directors and distinguished team of medical advisors from across Canada. It has Chapters in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and the Atlantic.
