Is surgery possible for MDS patients ??

Hi Everyone...

I found out today that I have a torn rotator cuff, and may need surgery to fix it .... ( oh great ! ).

I require transfusions every two weeks... would body be able to heal normally or are there big precautions involved ??

Good luck, hope you get a better response than I did.

I have a torn carilage in my hip that requires surgery. My hematologist wants it repaired but the orthopaedic surgeon won't do it. He says I may not recover well and he doesn't want to take the risk.

I think a lot will depend on your age and other medical problems etc.

Joints can be painful can't they?

Regards

I'm post transplant and have a broken finger. The orthopedic surgeon did not want to operate because of increased infection risk. He said to wait until I finished chemo and my white counts were solidly normal for several months.

Thumbs up Leo

No problem, Iv'e had 8 surgeries since 2003 when I was diagnosed with MDS. I have had 280 units of blood, no trouble, don't worry
