The results of these investigations show that older MDS patients aren't given referrals for transplant consideration as often as they should be. The age at which transplants, especially those with reduced intensity conditioning, are viable treatment choices continues to rise, but some physicians may not be aware of transplant opportunities that their older patients should investigate. Sharing and spreading this message could lead to improved survival and quality of life for many more patients.

I just saw online that some 75-year-old man had a successful BMT for MDS. He's doing very well. He even had some other health issues like a weaker heart, etc. Amazing! |
