Increased mitotic activity?
What would mean Increased mitotic activity? In the last BMP the red cells were macrocytic and showed increased mitotic activity. I have been trying to Google it but not really got anything.
Thanks. |

Mitosis and mitotic activity
Hi lotusbud,
Mitosis is a process of cell division which results in the production of two daughter cells from a single parent cell. The daughter cells are identical to one another and to the original parent cell. Mitotic activity has to do with the presence of dividing (proliferating) cells. Cancer tissue generally has more mitotic activity than normal tissues. Kind regards Birgitta-A |

Mitotic activity
Thankyou Birgitta .
So I suppose the cells are contemplating to be really active or not? Sorry I could not help it. Perhaps the cells have the same indecision like I do? To be nor not to be? Since they did not call it cancer, but neither did they rule it out. But at least it helps to know what the thing is going on, even though it might be inconclusive. Also might explain the feelings in the body; certainly people can at times feel that their body is having a fight of a life time? |

Mitotic activity
Hi lotusbud,
As far as I understand mitotic activity means that the cells really are dividing. When it is stem cells that are OK and are going to be red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets all is fine . You are right about that we can feel that our bodies are fighting infections and all kinds of other dangerous things that try to cause damage. Kind regards Birgitta-A |
