low dose cytarabine

I was wondering if anyone has had success with low dose cytarabine for mds or any other bone marrow diseases? I'm not talking about induction chemotherapy, but self administered low dose cyatarabine. My dad did well with a combination of vidaza and revlimid, but his mds has come back and is now injecting himself with low dose cytarabine.
Rob, son of Bruno age 71; dad diagnosed with mds feb. 2010; treated with combination of vidaza and revlimid; effective for 2 years; started cytarabine in august 2012
