Cataract Surgery and MDS
My husband had cataract surgery on his right eye two weeks ago and then on his left eye two days ago. He seems pretty tired and slow to bounce back. I am not surprised given his RAEB-1 diagnosis in 2012. His vision in the right eye is still quite blurry, even after two weeks.
I am wondering if anyone has some perspective on cataract surgery and MDS. Thank-you for any responses.

I was told that my total body irradiation ran the risk of causing cataracts...
With that being said my father in law had the surgery at 67 hears old, and has been seeing fine for the last 5 years. Both eyes... Best regards and God bless...

It takes some time
Hi! I had one cataract done 2 years ago with a multifocal implant. It took at least 6 months before my vision stabilized. It just kept getting gradually better and better. For me, the MDS wasn't an issue at all. The medications used during the surgery are very short acting, so I am surprised he is fatigued more easily. You don't say how old he is, so maybe that is a factor. Plus it can be mentally fatiguing when your vision is unstable and anxiety producing as you don't know when it will improve. Make sure he uses his prescribed eye drops exactly as ordered. Each surgeon has his/her own routine I think.
I hope my experience has been helpful! Mags
