My Father

My father was diagnosed with MDS late 2010. His MDS progressed to CML. He continued going to the V.A. hospital here in Chicago. We tried getting him to go to a cancer specialist but my dad was stubborn and believed the V.A. hospital would give him the right treatment. I seen this particular V.A. hospital as more student doctors than specialist. My father lost his battle April 14th, 2012. A day before my birthday. My father was my heart and it has been very difficult for me and my family. We miss him terribly. God Bless all of you who are struggling with this disease.

Dear Amy,
I am so sorry to hear of your losing your Father. This disease often shows no mercy.
I understand your frustration with his not wanting to leave the V.A. However I hope you find comfort in knowing that he did it his way regardless of the outcome. I volunteer at the V.A. Hospital in Richmond, Va. Veterans are a special breed and some carry their military loyalty almost to an extreme.
God Bless your Father for his service to my country. I'm sure he was a brave and courageous man.
May God comfort you in your grief and I hope you will eventually find peace with his decisions.
God Bless,
Sally
