When will counts rise after ATG & Cyclosporine
My husband was diagnosed with SAA February 4,2019. ATG completed 2/9/19. Started 200 mg cyclosporine right after. Had to reduce cyclosporine to 100 mg due to severe serum sickness. He is back to 200 mg and has been for 2 weeks. Also started Promacta two weeks ago as well. The only change that I’ve noticed is his Neutraphils have been going up and his Lymphocytes are decreasing. We have been living in OH for a couple months now because there are no specialists back home.

Hi Kevin88,
It can take 3-9 months (or more) for his counts to start trending up, a sign that he is responding to the treatment. It will take years for the marrow to recover. Hopefully, Promacta will help accelerate this. If he is still taking prednisone, that can cause a false rise in neutrophils. Good luck! I know the waiting is hard!

Thank you for responding. It has been basically 2 months and nothing has happened so far. It is very worrisome. Never seen a disease this complicated. Can’t help but worry.
