AAMAC - Webinar - Understanding your MDS risk score
Date: Tuesday January 18, 2022
Time: 7PM (Eastern Time) Speaker: Dr. Michelle Geddes, FRCPC Learning objectives: Not all MDS is the same; some types are more slowly progressive and some patients have higher risk of needing transfusion support. We will explain some of the different types of MDS, how they can progress differently, and what factors can predict better outcomes or higher risk disease, as well as risk of developing leukemia. We will look at cytogenetics and molecular testing and how this factors into decision making in MDS. To register:
About the speaker Dr. Geddes is a hematologist and clinical associate professor at the University of Calgary and Tom Baker Cancer Centre. She trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Alberta and in Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation at the University of Calgary. She has an interest in acute leukemias, myelodysplasia, myeloproliferative disorders and aplastic anemia and has a practice in general hematology and hematopoietic cell transplantation. She is active in teaching at the medical school and resident level
