Mouth Sores

Back again. So my mother's cellulitis seems to be clearing up with the Keflex. She is extremely tired though. We live in New Jersey so she has been dealing with power outages for the past two weeks and this is making life even more stressful for her. Her hemoglobin was 10.2 this week. I am not sure of the wbc or her platelets, but they are low.

When visiting her today she mentioned that she has sores in her mouth the past week.

I wonder if the plateau is done and she is heading for downward movement in her health.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Yaka

Yaka;
I am so sorry your Mother is dealing with the power outages on top of dealing with her current medical condition.

Regarding the mouth sores - Earl has experienced them twice while on traatment - once with Dacogen, and also once with Vidaza. He is prescribed the 'Magic Mouthwash', and also straight Nystatin. Both are a swish thing - and sometimes you swallow some of - but it won't hurt. The magic mouthwash that they make here in PA has Lidocaine in it - which helps numb the mouth. Of course, you have to wait at least half an hour before you eat or drink anything after you use it, so that it will have time to work. Ask her Doc about both.

Good Luck To You and to her as well.

Beth

Hi Yaka - I found pure honey really soothing. Oil pulling with coconut oil was good too and made me feel generally better (see http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org...%20pulling.htm).

Hope this info helps!
