Unhappy 2010 Pediatrica Diagnosed with AA in DFW area

My 11 yr old nephew was diagnosed with severe AA. Any contacts out there that can share with my family?

Maybe try posting this in the AA forum??? Sorry I'm no help on AA, still trying to understand MDS/AML.

Debbie, wife of Mike age 58, diagnosed RAEB 2 April 2010. Initial blast count somewhere between 10-15% then 20% after two treatments of Dacogen. Completed induction therapy 8/2/2010. BMB 8/31/10 - 4% blasts. SCT 10/1/2010. Relapsed in 10/2014, second transplant from same donor on 12/31/2014.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your nephew. My son was diagnosed with sAA a few years ago when he was 10. He had one round of ATG but was deemed a non-responder after nearly 6 months. He went on to have a completely successful uncomplicated bone marrow transplant using a 9/10 unrelated donor. Below is his Caringbridge site, where your family can read his entire journey start to finish.

There is hope. Your family has to learn as much as they can to be your nephew's best advocate. This forum is an incredible tool, advise them to use it.
