Promacta and ATG - Rabbit

I am wondering if anyone has had promacta in combination with rabbit ATG. I had ATG horse 2.5 years ago - fully recovered i.e. all counts normal within 4 months and remained that way until 2 months ago - but have relapsed and doctors are talking about various options now one being the use of promacta combined with ATG rabbit.

Most information I read talks about promacta and horse ATG.

Any information would be most appreciated.

Hi TASHMAC,

Promacta is still in the clinical trial phase in the US, although more and more doctors are trying it with mixed results for their patients.

If I were in your shoes, I would be hesitant to throw in an unknown when the odds are in your favor to respond to another round of rabbit ATG alone.

What are their thoughts for adding the Promacta?

At this stage they are simply presenting me with options but speak highly of promacta as they feel the results have been positive. I am slightly reluctant because of the fact that the drug is still new and the overriding concern that it may generate mutations even when a bone marrow biopsy comes back "clean".

TASHMAC,
Please read my posts about my husband's journey with Promacta.
He was the first to try it as an MDS patient in a clinical trial. While he took a chance, it really paid off. He is now 3 years transfusion independent after over 125 blood/platelet transfusions. They have had great results at The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., USA with both AA and MDS.
If I can answer any questions, please feel free to ask. shcalvert3@aol.com

God Bless,
Sally
