Interviewing prospective Dr. next week ....

Hi everyone.....

I am having a consult with a potentially new Hematologist next week .... ( I have MDS/CMML ) ..... not thrilled with my current person ....tends to be dismissive when I ask questions , he's also 71 years old, and I'm just not sure how 'up to date ' he is on newer treatments. To his credit, he has suggested that I try to get into a Cancer Center. He is not a 'warm/fuzzy' kind of Dr.

Any ideas on some intelligent questions I can ask potential new Dr. that will give me insight on whether he is " the one " ? ( I will definitely be observing his communication skills ), knowledge of MDS etc, etc. .........

Be sure you like the Doctor and that the hospital has a good track record of treating this disease. My hemotologist was not the most personable guy, but he knows his area well and I picked up on that. Good luck to you and be sure to keep us updated. Lori
