Cyclosporine and Gums
Hi Everyone,
I'm sure I am not the only one who experienced overgrown gums when taking cyclosporine. I was sure I'd end up with no teeth exposed and I would be gumming all my food. When the dosage was reduced to 100 mg a day, I finally got my mouth back. Just a word of encouragement to any who are faced with the same problem. Sue

Sue, age 72; Dx 6/2010 MDS Int-2. Revlimid unsuccessful, began Aranesp 10/2010; additionally Dx PNH 2/2011, Soliris added 3/2011. ATG 5/2011, Cyclosporine 5/2011. Nplate 10/2011 to 10/2012 . Exjade began 12/2013 due to high ferritin level, discontinued 3/2014 because of increase in creatinine.

Cyclosporine and Gums -
Thank you so much for this post! My father was so up lifted to hear this. Really is struggling to have any appetite because of the toughness of any food due to his gums. Its hard to know what is harder on the gums - the cyclosporine or the low platelets!

Father 72 has been diagnosed VSAA June 2014, was on cyclosporine as first treatment 06/2014 - 09/2014. 8 weeks after diagnosis doctor believe he would not survive ATG Treatment. GCSF 3 weeks Aug 2014 Currently on Eltrombopag 09/14 Danazol 25/08/14.

Hi Sue, Are you able to give me an estimate on how long it took before you felt a difference in your gums? Dad came off cyclosporine cold turkey today from 300mg and looking forward to seeing his teeth again. Thanks!
