Nausea treatment w/Vidaza

Hi - My insurance has denied appeal for Aloxi for my Vidaza treatments. I am curious what other people are taking for nausea. Please let me know. Also, when getting the treatments, is everyone able to go on with functioning as normal? Meaning not tired, or dizzy or nauseated. I am just wondering if I am being whimpy by having difficulties working my whole days at times. Thank you in advance for any replies. Take care.

anti-nausea

I have a prescription for Ondansetron (generic Zofran) that works great. I take one tablet an hour before I go for my Vidaza treatment each day. Occasionally, I take another before bedtime if I'm feeling a little queasy.

Meds

My husband took the Zofran too before his Vidaza, and it worked like a charm! He never had to take any other meds in between...

I hope it works for you!

Zofran made my husband, Ron tired. But, Vidaza also took it's toll, but, not really bad. Ron would take it easy during treatment, but, inbetween, he seemed fine. He was walking 2 miles per day until he got sick around mid-july 2010. Good luck! Cindy

Red face Cindy

Thanks for your reply. I guess I expect myself to be doing more than I should. Who knows, I have one more month of the Vidaza then the biopsy to see what is happening. If it is working - guess it is worth it, if not we will have to see whatelse is avail. Good luck to you and your husband.

When I said my husband got sick in mid July, that was when his Vidaza responsed stopped. He had received it for 13 mons. Now, some people are responsive to Vidaza much longer - everyone is different.

Also, Ron was on a clinical trial. He recieve very very low dose, but had to go in 10 Days in a row, with only 18 days in between. The driving back and forth for treatment a lone can also be tiring.

He was most tired the first 2 mons, but, around mon 6 he said... if it meant he would continue to feel how he was feeling, he could do what he was doing for the rest of his life!

Unfortunately, Ron's MDS transitioned into AML within 2 mons of his body no longer responding to Vidaza treatment.

God Bless,
Cindy

Thank you for the information - I guess I'll just have to see what the biopsy will be in December. If it is working, I think there will have to be some dose adjustment maybe. I hope Ron is doing ok. Will he be going for a transplant? Does he have siblings? Have a good day.

Susan,
Yes, Ron is being considered for a SCT and he has 6 siblings that are currently being tested for possible match. I will update all on the results of the match cross-checks whenever we know.

God Bless,
Cindy
