Transfusion problems in MDS

Hi
My mother is disgnosed as MDS with low RBC and is transfusion dependent. Transfusion is done every 10 days. She already undergone some 90 packs of RBC cells. She is now very pale and weak.
The transfusion process is taking a long time. Almost 4-5 hours per pack. Is it the same with all such patients ? Nurses say her viens are not very supportive during such transfusions.

Have you discussed having a port installed so that they don't have to stick each time?

It takes a minimum of 2 hours for each unit. And the older you are, the slower they may decide to run in it because the elderly cannot handle the volume of fluid as well.
