they wont give her a transplant anymore
hello my name is carmine and my mother aged 68 has AML, she was in remission for 13 months and yesturday her doctor told us the cancer is back. We live in ontario and were told that this provence no longer performed bone marrow transplants on anyone over the age of 60 after there cancer relaps. they have given us no more options other than sorafenib to keep the white blood cell counts low to buy her more time, 6 months about and thats not acceptible, can anyone please help

Perhaps you could see if there was a clinical trial in the US that she qualifies for?? I don't know if US citizenship is required, but it could be something to investigate.

If she wants a transplant I would get a second opinion. There are many facilities that are doing transplants on older people. I know of some in the U.S. but not Canada. Sorry. You would be surprised. Good luck and push for what u want. Laura
