Here's some information on ATG from the MDS information section of the forums: Drugs for Immunosuppression
MDS patients may be treated with antithymocyte globulin (ATG) or antilymphocyte globulin (ALG), in combination with cyclosporine. These immunosuppressive drugs keep the patient's own immune system from attacking the bone marrow, allowing the bone marrow to begin making healthy blood cells again. They are typically used for lower-risk patients. (Note: ATG/ALG+cyclosporine is a front-line treatment for aplastic anemia.)

Have you read Greg's post here yet? http://forums.marrowforums.org/showt...&highlight=atg It's a good explanation of why ATG/immunosuppressant treatment was considered in Greg's case.

Hopefully, other members with first hand experience will be able to answer any questions you have, but this should give you a place to start.
