MDS
Hi, My name is Tammy. About 4 wks ago, my Dad, age 76 was diagnosed with MDL. He is very pale and tires easely. So far he has been receiving Procrit shots once a week and at last visit, his counts were the same.

Tammy,
Welcome to Marrowforums. You said your Dad was diagnosed with "MDL". Did you mean to say "MDS" -- myelodysplastic syndrome? You'll find lots of people in this group who can share their experiences with MDS and help answer questions you must have about the disease and its treatments. Many patients are given Procrit when they are first diagnosed to try to boost their red cell counts and help reduce the fatigue that goes with anemia. Often the shots must be taken 2 or 3 times a week and at high doses in order to be effective. I'm sure that members who have experience with Procrit will share what they know about frequency, doses, and responses. Do you know what type of MDS your Dad has? Where is he being treated?
