help: almost 2M after ATG: uterus bleedings for a week
Hi, all, my mom (67yr) started acute uterus bleeding a week ago. She started Rabit ATG around June 1st and it is almost 2M. So far, only her white cell counts go up (about 4.4*10^3 today, lowest at 0.2*10^3 2 months ago) and other two counts remains low (platelets transfusion twice a week and red cell blood transfersion once a week).
I wonder if any of you have experience uterus bleedings and what kind of drugs your doctor gives you to stop bleedings. Is this typical symptom due to low platelets counts? Our doctor starts to suspect my mom may develop a uterus cancer within 2 months even though my mom had a PET-CT screening late May this year and everthing is normal. My mom will go to see a specialist soon. In the meantime, I hope to see if anyone has similar experience and can share some information with me. Thanks. Finally, I am going to fly back (China) next week and stay with her for a month. Hopefully, her other 2 counts will start rising. cross fingers.

I have heard of women of childbearing age having uncontrollable menstrual bleeding when their platelets got low, and being given hormones like Depo-Provera to stop the bleeding. I don't know if this would ever be given to older women, however.

uterus bleeding
I am 51 and I had my first monthly bleed since last November last month, which was absolutely frightening, my doc was reluctant to put me on even more drugs...currently on cyclo. But I said that there was no way I was going through that again, the amounts were horrendous. So he has put me on a drug called Northesterone, its not the pill, but I take it just a couple of times a day (he said 3 times, but 2 seems to work) and this stops me having the bleed. All I have to be careful of is DVT which at my age I should be careful of anyway!!! maybe this would help?

RE: Uterus Bleeding
Hi! I experienced constant menstrual bleeding after having ATG. I would recommend looking at finding a birth control pill that helps control it. I know your mom is post-menopausal, but immune diseases can affect hormones and vice versa. These days, even post-menopausal women can get pregnant through IVF, so hormones are never out of the picture and can definitely affect uterine bleeding. A gynecologist is the best person for this, not a hematologist. I speak from experience!
