Metamyelocytes
Hi, I'm hoping someone can answer my question.
My recent blood test results show metamyelocytes are present. I looked it up and I know they are immature neutrophils and that they shouldn't be found in the peripheral blood, but, are they of any importance or are they "normal" for people with MDS or on Vidaza? I won't see or talk to my doctor for another 2 weeks or so and I'm curious to know if they are significant. Thanks for any replies. Keep well.

Metamyelocytes
Hi Chirley,
As far as I understand metamyelocytes can be found in blood in infections or other causes of "marrow stress". Perhaps the marrow stress is increased in the beginning of treatment with Vidaza when all counts can decrease before Vidaza kicks in and as you know that can take up to 6 cycles. http://meds.queensu.ca/medicine/dept...mia/metamy.htm How are you? We have not got any info from you during the last days though it is a good sign that you are able to follow yor counts so closely. Kind regards Birgitta-A |
