Imuran vs. generic?
Is Imuran and its generic (azathioprine) equivalent? The price difference is huge!

JEZ,
The FDA approved azathioprine as a generic equivalent of Imuran in 2000. However, as is the case with many medications, patients do not always respond the same way to different versions of the same drug. Given the price difference, you should talk to your doctor about the possibility of substituting azathioprine for Imuran and then watching closely for any reactions or changes in your condition. Hope this helps. Ruth
