Thumbs up FDA approval for drug for low platelets

Hi all,
Now FDA has approved the first of many drugs in pipelines for thrombocytopenia - Nplate . The drug is approved for immune thrombocytopenic purpura - a bleeding disease due to destruction of the platelets. This drug is not OK for patients with MDS - 22 of 44 patients with MDS got increased symptoms - but we can hope that one of the next drugs will be better for our disease.
Kind regards
Birgitta-A

Here are three previous threads about the testing and approval process for Nplate, the Amgen trade name for romiplostim. It was also called AMG 531.
Bad news about AMG 531/Romiplostim/Nplate

Another delay with new platelet drug

Info from FDA meeting about Nplate and MDS
