Resistance to Dacogen
Hi All,
Here is a difficult but interesting article about resistance to Decitabine (Dacogen) in MDS. We all want to know more about which patients that will respond to a special treatment. Hope I have understood the article myself. Cytidine deaminase (CDA) is an enzyme which breaks down Dacogen. Dacogen can induce deficiency of deoxycytidine kinase (DCK) through different mutations of the dck gene. In this study they found that a high CDA/DCK ratio may be a marker of primary resistance to Dacogen in a subset of patients. If confirmed in other studies, this may help predict response to Dacogen treatment based on the value of CDA/DCK, or may steer patients towards azacitidine (Vidaza) therapy, which does not depend on DCK for activity. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...9/?tool=pubmed Kind regards Birgitta-A |
