Question MDS my counts are dropping?

Just had my blood work done I've been off the neupogen since feb 29th
my wbc was 3.9 mar. 15th now 3.3, neu 2.3 now 1.3 was 70% no 38% plt was 155 now 132.
been really tired, and have a sore throat they want me to wait to take the neupogen until after my BMB April 16th.

My ANC going from 2.3 to 1.3 should I be concerned?

I only have the injection if my neuts are less than 0.5...so it looks to me you still have wiggle room. Of course it all depends on how well the cells you do have function. I still think if you’re worried it’s best to ring your Doc and ask.

Jenny,

It is good that you are aware of your counts and how you are feeling. Changes in blood counts are normal from week to week and month to month. You mention a sore throat, which could be caused by an infection. WBC tends to go down with viral infections, even in healthy people, and go up in response to bacterial infections. Withholding neupogen prior to a bmb might be done in order to get more accurate results.

As Naive mentioned, it is pretty normal to not give neupogen unless neutrophils are less than 1.0 - although it may vary.

Best course of action is always to consult with your doctor about questions around treatment and progression.
