Trombosit decrease and Ferritin increase
My daughter on 25 May 2015, just do BMT with haploidentical method, already 11 months. So far Hb stable at 11-12. WBC at 8000-9000.
Last sunday, we just re check the ferritin test and blood routine test. Ferritin is increase from 2700 (7 January 2016), to 3251 (24 April 2016). And Trombosit on january is 125.000 , on april decrease to 97.000. How ferritin can increase without any blood transfution ? Is it normal for POST BMT patient ? For Trombosit, since BMT, almost 1 years, why trombosit never reach normal value ? This matter has relation with late rejection ? How long we can tolerate this matter ? |

Ferritin is considered an "acute-phase reactant" protein which means that any inflammation or tissue injury can cause it to go up. And when it's already high, it's not unusual to see big spikes from time to time.
Any illness, inflammation, the blood draw and even how they handle the blood specimen can cause it to rise. Doesn't mean there's more iron in the body. At some point, I assume they will start the process to reduce the excess iron from her as a result of the transfusions. I don't think you need to worry about transplant rejection based on the platelets (Thrombosit) counts. Sometimes, cell never fully recover to the normal range but are very livable. But you may want to post that question in the Transplant section of this forum where someone with more knowledge on on transplant can help.
