How long until I get a response from the NMDP?
Ok so, I recieved a free cheek swap testing kit from the NMDP during their Mother's Day event.
I sent in my cheek swaps over three months ago, and I haven't recieved any kind of response yet. When I log into the website, it still talks about how I should be recieving my sample in the mail. So does anyone know how long it will take them until I recieve something in the mail confirming that I'm on the list? |

Hi, gnatman.
It's great that you're a ready and willing donor. My life was saved by someone like you. The NMDP website has this Q&A on their FAQ page about joining the Registry: Q: I think I may have already joined. How can I verify that I am on the Registry? A: Whether you join the NMDP Registry online or in person, you are part of the same Registry. If you have previously given a blood sample or cheek cell sample to be tested for our Registry, you do not need to join again. If you are unsure whether you joined, you can complete our online form to confirm you are on the Registry or you can contact us at 1 (800) MARROW-2. Did you already do this? I know that when my husband joined the Registry after my transplant he didn't receive anything in the mail until their next Marrow Messenger newsletter was published, which was quite a while after he registered. Let us know if you find a better way to know if you're registered. Regards, Ruth Cuadra
