Colorectal cancer and aplastic anemia
Recently had a colon polyp removed it contained high grade dysplasia. Surgeon believes he got it all. I have taken a contrast CT from neck to knees to check for more. Will have the CEA blood test added to my every 3 week blood draw.
I am taking a 5 mushroom chinese herb mixture along with multivitamins, and a high dose of blood pressure meds. Levels right now are: wbc 2.3, rbc 3.72, plate 117 My question is: has any body else had colorectal cancer from taking high doses of cyclosporine?

Side effect from steroids
My aplastic anemia doctor told me that the polyp was a result of taking prednisone, which I took to help with serum sickness.
If you are over 50 and not had a colonoscopy, please do. It is silly to work so hard to live with aplastic anemia to die of colon cancer. Having a cancerous polyp cut out is nothing compared to ATG therapy. Suzie

Thanks for the advice, Suzie.
Different doctors may have different ideas about the ideal schedule for colonoscopies or sigmoidoscopies, so everyone should ask their own doctor for his or her advice, particularly when they have unusual medical conditions. And the most important tip is to take the doctor's advice rather than putting it off. |
