Cost Question

My doctor is recommending a stem cell transplant. I am trying to find out as much as I can about costs. I will be under Medicare. Who pays for the donor's medical cost and who pays for the transportation of the stem cells to my center are two questions I have right now. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. This probably won't happen for a couple months as we are just starting down this road.

Thanks

sct cost

In the past 1 year and 4 months my total Medicare charges came to $1.2 million. I have a plan F supplement so my payment came to $0. My sister was the donor and I paid all her expenses. I am not sure for who pays for unrelated donors.

My costs are right at $1 million. We are on private insurance. Donor's costs and transportation were covered by insurance. My donor was in Germany.

I wish you the best.

Thanks, Ray and Bailie

Ray & Bailie,
I appreciate the information. I am not sure this is the right road but I am trying to get as much information as I can. Hopefully any decision I make will be an informed one.

Good luck to you all.
