Atypical Cml

Has anyone been told they have atypical CML vs MDS vs skewed results due to infection.

My dad at Penn right now, his bone marrow bx showed abnormalities but they needed "special tests" to find out what and if any chromosomal issues. He did not have the philadelphia chromosome.

He has an infection (abscess) and is on abx. He has other symptoms:
pink purple rash legs arms and back
shortness of breath
sore gums
weakness
loss appetite
hacking cough

He has been in the hospital now for 2 weeks and we still don't know what is wrong with him. He can't start treatment until infection gone. I just see him getting weaker and worry if they will ever be able to treat him. He is only 62 years old.

so sad....
