AA&MDSIF to Hold Six Patient Conferences in 2017

The Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AA&MDSIF) will hold six one-day or half-day conferences for bone marrow failure disease patients and their families in 2017, in six cities across the U.S.

Conference attendance will be free. Those who want to stay overnight can take advantage of discounted hotel rates. Plan to attend the patient conference closest to you.

2017 Patient and Family Conferences (click a link for conference details)
  1. Las Vegas, Nevada - Saturday April 22, 2017

  2. Nashville, Tennessee - Saturday June 24, 2017
    Shortened program, ending after lunch.

  3. Minneapolis, Minnesota - Saturday July 22, 2017

  4. Newark, New Jersey - Saturday September 16, 2017

  5. Kansas City, Missouri - Saturday October 14, 2017
    Shortened program, ending after lunch.

  6. Orlando, Florida - Saturday November 4, 2017

Agenda

Each conference will include parallel (simultaneous) sessions on bone marrow failure diseases.
  • AA and PRCA
  • MDS, AML, CMML, and MPNs
  • PNH
AA, MDS, and PNH have always been covered at patient conferences. This is the first year that the sessions will also cover pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).

There will also be sessions on graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), and general wellness. Full-day conferences will also cover bone marrow transplants and genetic testing. These sessions will help you learn about the diseases, learn to live with and cope with them, and benefit from professionally-facilitated support sessions with your peers.

At each conference patients and family members will be able to
  • meet medical experts face-to-face
  • hear about the latest treatments and medical research
  • learn skills for managing life with a bone marrow failure disease
  • have your questions answered
  • learn how to be your own advocate for the best care
  • get to know other patients and family members like yourselves
  • attend professionally-facilitated support sessions
  • learn how the AA&MDSIF can help you
  • attend a Friday night social before the day of the conference
All conference registrations are open.
