Shoulder pain
My father just had a haplocord transplant a week ago for mds.
He has been doing very well but for the last three days he's been having shoulder pain. Tests have shown no infection, no clot and no bone problems. Now he claims the medication Made it worse. Does anyone have any idea whats happening with him? |

ok after many tests, they know its not clot, bone or tissue damage or any sort of infection (they did mri, sonogram, etc)
they think its related to the line they put in him has anyone recalled a situation like this (they are considering giving him oxycontin) Last edited by shadowii : Thu Apr 4, 2019 at 11:17 AM. |

I would be really cautious with starting him on oxy, given how addictive it can be. If they suspect his pain may be nerve related, I would talk to his doctors about trying Botox injections to treat it. I am not an expert but have heard of people that had success with this.

Also I've learned the pain centers in his shoulder but can spread to back and arms when it gets bad. Anyway he's day 9 post transplant so as im sure people can imagine he's pretty wrecked regardless, were just waiting impatiantly for signs engraftment is starting |

If it is the line and continues to cause pain, you may want to discuss replacing and relocating it. It shouldn't cause that much pain.
