Responding to Vidaza but blood count not increasing

Hi All,

My father just had the result of his BMB after 4 rounds of Vidaza. His blasts have gone from 10-12% down to 2%, which is obviously great news.

However, his blood counts have not increased. His haemoglobin is consistently around 9... even after 6 rounds of Vidaza now.

His consultant said this is very unusual. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any experience of something similar?

It seems everyone responds (or does not respond) differently. I have had the exact opposite results. My blood counts have steadily increased since the 2nd cycle of Vidaza with platelets going from 20 to 183 and the reds, whites and neutrophils more than doubling. At the same time my blast counts have stayed about the same (9-11 percent) throughout the cycles. Two more cycles (with the addition of Revlimid) and I will go to transplant.
