Guide to the Treatment Center Map

The Marrowforums Treatment Center Map was introduced in January 2008. This Guide gives detailed instructions for using the map.

You can zoom in and out on the map, pan (slide) the map to the north, south, east, or west, jump to a specific state or province, or get information, links, and driving directions for treatment centers.

Where there are multiple ways to do something, use the method you like best!

How to zoom

Use the zoom controls at the left of the map:

Size: 562 Bytes
To zoom in, do any of the following:
  • Click the + button.
  • Click or drag upward in the zoom scale.
  • Double-click on the map background (not on a map pin).
To zoom out, do any of the following:
  • Click the - button.
  • Click or drag downward in the zoom scale on the left.
How to pan

Use the direction controls at the left of the map, or the thumbnail control at the bottom right of the map:

Size: 395 Bytes

To pan north, south, west, or east, do any of the following:
  • Click the up, down, left, or right arrow.
  • Drag on the map background (not on a map pin).
  • Drag the rectangle in the thumbnail control.
  • Drag the background of the thumbnail control.
How to reset the map

To return to the original position and zoom level, do any of the following:
  • Click the reset button in the middle of the direction controls.
  • Click the "All North America" link below the map.
  • Reload the web page.
How to get information about a treatment center

Click on a map pin to view a pop-up showing the name and address of a treatment center.

Example:
Name: map_popup.jpg
Views: 2
Size: 25.5 KB
Click the treatment center name to go to the treatment center's website.

Click the "Driving directions" link for directions to the treatment center from a location you specify, or to go to the Google map site for other information.

To close a pop-up, click its close box (X), click the map pin again, click another map pin, or click on the background of the map.

To see satellite images

Use the view controls at the top right of the map:
Name: map_view_controls.gif
Views: 2
Size: 959 Bytes
Maps are displayed by default.

If you want to see the buildings in the complex or the terrain in the area, click the Satellite button. Note that the map pins are based on street addresses rather than the exact positions of treatment facilities, and that not all satellite images are up to date.

Click the Hybrid button to see the satellite image overlaid with map labels. This can be especially handy when looking at driving directions.

If you want further information or have questions about using the map, see the Google Maps User Guide or post in this thread.
