cold sores

Is there any relationship between getting cold sores and having MDS?

Through the years, my husband has had the occasional cold sore on the lip. In the last few years, he seems to get them more frequently.

Thanks for any perspective on this.

Hi Ann,

It's probably related only in that his immune system is not fully functioning and cold sores are from the herpes virus that never goes away...it remains dormant in your body. A strong immune system will keep the virus in check so you would not have a lot of breakouts.

another possible help would be to avoid toothpaste with sodium laurel sulphate.
