Flow cytometry - what does this mean?
Does anyone know what the meaning of MYELOBLASTS ARE POSITIVE FOR CD45 (DIM), CD33, CD34, CD117, CD56, HLA-DR, CD13,
CD38, and MPO (partial) on flow cytometry |

Your husband is fortunate to have a wife who is so interested in and concerned about his condition.
You will find a little information on surface markers here: http://www.mdsbeacon.com/news/2011/0...ase-prognosis/ Surface marker levels can indicate prognosis. CD34 tends to correlate closely with blast levels but not always. You will need a copy of your husband's biopsy results to see what levels he has. I am interested to know more about surface markers myself and would appreciate knowing where to go to find out.

Geez, glad I didn't know this before. My CD34 and CD38 were strongly positive....I never knew what it meant.

Just found I had also saved another link re surface markers. It's quite technical but may be of assistance.

This is very complex stuff. Best to leave it to the Doctors to explain what it is they are looking for. Depending on the context it could be interpreted many ways. All the best
