The 7th annual Los Angeles 2016 March for Marrow 5K Run & Walk, a fundraising and awareness event to benefit the AA&MDSIF, will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Shoreline Village in Long Beach, CA. It will be a day of fun connecting with fellow patients and families.

March for Marrow was previously known as Hope, Steps & A Cure.

The event will include:

• March for Marrow Walk
• March for Marrow 5K Run
• Group photo
• Silent auction
• Celebrity speakers
• Moment of Remembrance
• Art projects for kids
• Music
• National Marrow Donor Program signups
• Lunch and refreshments

Marrowforums members are invited to register for the event and/or donate to the fundraiser via the Team Marrowforums page, and to help spread the word about this annual fundraiser. 100% of all donations through Team Marrowforums go directly to the AA&MDSIF.


Information

We will walk or run along the scenic marina in Shoreline Village. Walkers can choose either the 1-mile or 2-mile route.

Onsite registration begins at 7:00am for the 5K Run and 8:15am for the Walk. The 5K Run starts at 8:00am. The program and Walk will begin at 9:30am.

The registration fee is $30 per person for the Walk, $30 for the 5K Run, or $40 for both. Virtual Walkers (supporters who won't be at the event) are the same price: $30. Kids 14 and under can register for the 5K Run for only $20.

Each Walker and Virtual Walker is encouraged to set a personal fundraising goal and invite friends and family members to sponsor you online.

1. To register if you can attend

Go to the Registration page, fill out the form, and click Next Step.

Click the Join Team button.

Select Team Marrowforums from the Team Name drop-down list, and click the Join button.

Complete your registration. You'll get your own fundraising page.

2. To register if you can't attend but want to have a fundraising page

If you can't attend the event, you can register as a "Virtual Walker". Use the same instructions, but select the radio button for Virtual walk registration on the first page.

3. To make a donation (no registration necessary)

Go to the Team Marrowforums page, click the Support Us button, and fill out the Donation Form.

Both named and anonymous donations of any amount are welcome. Every penny goes to the AA&MDSIF.

The Los Angeles 2016 March for Marrow 5K Run & Walk is this coming Saturday.

It should be a nice day in scenic Long Beach, cool enough for the run and sunny enough for the walk.

Come join Team Marrowforums and the others who will be running and walking to raise funds and awareness!

Hundreds showed up at the March for Marrow. The sun came out just in time for a beautiful walk along the waterfront, across from the Queen Mary.

The 22 teams, including Team Marrowforums, raised over $25,000, while other donations, sponsorships, and the silent auction brought in more.

Patients met other patients, families met other families, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Perhaps best of all, Be The Match registered 19 new people for the bone marrow registry!
